And The Story Continues...

After Dave's father left he was doom, he never knows what his mother will do. They went to Mcdonald's, but Dave has to stay in the car like always so he doesn't get to eat. When his brothers and mom came to the car, his mom looked angry like usual and once they arrive home Dave feels scared. Dave's brothers got to play outside while he was indoors cleaning and his mom watching TV. Out of nowhere his mother appears and gives him something to drink and a few hourse later he got a sick and couldn't go to sleep. He still went to school and he looked more bruised up everyday and he couldn't tell the teachers whats happening home because his mom would make up a lie. Dave felt he was never gonna escape and he was still mad at his father for leaving. Everyday was the same for Dave because he would get whipped, do the chores, and sleep in the basement all alone.
His teacher was curious on whats happening to Dave, but she didn't believe a word he said. Dave actually liked being in school because he wasn't with his mom, but when the bell rings he had to eventually go home. Every night he would pray and say "one day I would escape and doing whatever I want", but that day hasn't came. Dave's brothers always did something different than Dave because he was the "slave" of the house. When mother let Dave play at times with his brothers they would treat Dave normal like nothing happen because he was part of the family. Mother would play "games" with Dave like he would have to stay still in a tub with cold water and if he moved just a inch she would drown him, or if he cleaned fast she would give him "food" which was a lie, or any other tricks that almost made him die. Dave didn't get to live a normal life in his young years because his mom would only pick on him since he was an achohlic.
Mother actually treated Dave worse since his father left because she was the only adult in the house and she got to do anything. Until one day Dave's teacher called the police and they arrived in his house on an afternoon and questioned Dave in a separate room. Dave eventually told the truth and he got separated with his mom which he got relieved. They put him in a foster home with his other brothers, so they can get adopted to a loving family. It took months for him to get adopted, but he didn't mind because he didn't get to see his real mom. After a while, Dave got notified that his father past away by a disease which affected Dave's life because he wanted to escape with his father one day. Every night Dave would pray on how bless he didn't have to live with his mother so he's safe and that one day he will see his father again, but in heaven.
Dave eventually got adopted to a family and he was no longer a "slave". His mom was sent to prison and they will never see each other because she ruined Dave's childhood. At first Dave didn't feel comfortable being with a family because he didn't want to fit in. His new family treated him normal and he was gonna gave a new start which made him part of the family. He no longer got whipped, didn't do ALL the chores, and took care of his responsibility not others. Dave is now focused on the present and never wants to go back to the past because would have died. He actually now espresses himself out and likes to share and participate to everyone on what's on his mind, he has became a different person.

Dear...

                 Dear Ms. Vallejo,

I recommend you to read this book called A CHILD CALLED "IT" for many reasons. This book is actually based on a true story and you wouldn't believe how the mother treats his son. It touched me on how Dave (the main character) has lived through the years without no help. Their are mothers who look nice on the outside, but in the inside they are very harsh just like the mother in this book. Dave was the only one being picked on by his mother, his other brothers lived a normal life. His mother always tells Dave that he is the slave of the house and that he is no longer part of the family. I think you should read this book because you can be involved in situations like this because your the type of person who likes to help kids, since thats why your the vice principal. His mother always makes him clean dishes, pick up after everyone, and sleep in the floor in the basement with no pillow or blanket.  Dave isn't the type of kid who expresses himself out to the teachers because he doesn't tell them how he gets cuts and bruises. Dave usually cooks breakfast in the mornings for the family, but he only gets leftovers and thats why he comes to school late. Even when his mom gives birth to another boy she is very nice to the baby and moody with Dave, just him. I know you would want to read this book because you would want know about families that can be related to this book, because their can be even be worse families living in that situation. Dave's dad at times would help him sneak some food for him because mother was the boss in the house, so sadly his father left because he didn't like seeing how his son was living. He once told is son "one day you and me are going to escape and live life how it should be". When you finish reading this book you will be speechless because Dave has made a difference in his life and has became a mature adult. I know no one would like to live a life like Dave because he has been through alot and he could had died. This book can change people because you know it will be bad when a situation like this occurs. I feel that if you like this book, then you should recommend this book to others and can make a difference.

Dave Pelzer

David James Pelzer was born in California on December 29, 1960. This family situation he was born into, was not even close to perfect. His father died early in his life which affected him because he would help him at times by sneaking food, just the left overs. His mother abused him to such a degree that his case became the worst case of child abuse in the history of California bceause she would do crazy stuff like drown him, put him in the oven, and whipping him hard. He nearly died several times by the hands of his mentally disturbed alcohlic mother.
Despite attending public schools, his teachers never contacted the police regarding possible abuse until he was 12 years old because he never said nothing about his bruises and how he got them. This meant that Dave Pelzer suffered extreme abuse from the hands of his own mother for at least 8 years if not more and just him, not his other brothers. Once the police were notified Pelzer was removed from his home and then sent to live in foster homes until the age of 18 because they didn't want him to be with his mother. During this time period Dave was able to overcome some of his mental anguish and fear and he became determined to educate the world. With all of that against him, Dave was determined to better himself no matter what the odds were.
The book A CHILD CALLED "IT" was based on a true story and it was about the author himself on how his crazy mother abused him. Today, at 46 Dave Pelzer has written many New York Times Bestsellers, travels the country promoting understanding, resilience, and inspires the individuals who listens to him speak. Pelzer first accomplishments was that he was first American to ever win the “Outstanding Young Persons of the World Award.” Although an entrepreneur making money from his history, he is a man that overcame abuse and is inspiring others out there that they do not have to suffer in silence and that they too can overcome. He is a living testament of a self-made man, accompanies mankind, who is very responsible and has faith in humanity.
Around two dedcades, Dave has dedicated his life for helping others and also helping themselves. He is a very Influential person that anyone can admire, any person because he has lived through alot and is still breathing. Over 6 years Mr. Pelzer's books has been the same Best Sellers List for around 13 years combined. The time he got separated with his mother he has became responsible and had freedom to do anything. He feels that any kid can overcome their fears and has the word to speak on what's on their mind.

A Child Called "It"

My name is Dave Pelzer, I have several brothers and I'm the only one who gets abuse by my own mother. She has to sides of herself, one is good and the other is bad. When I was younger I would have several cuts and bruises because my mother would cause them and my teacher was very curious who did that and I couldn't say anything. People would never know who did this to me and my mother would just say lies like I fell or got hurt by accident. Since my mother didn't let me eat rarley nothing home, I would usually still food from kids lunches while they were in reccess. There was nothing else I could have done because I had no money and couldn't get a job because I was too young. I evetually got caught and would get whipped really hard because I wasn't suppose to do that, which I knew better.
I had to do all the chores and sleep in the basement with no bed just lay on the cold floor without no pillow or warm blanket. I was so tired and I always dreamed that one day I was gonna be free and get to do anything I wanted to do because it was my life and nothing could stop me, not even my mother. My father wanted to help me, but couldn't because my mother was the boss of the house and she was powerful and got to do anything to me and didn't let my dad have a chose for it. I would get happy when my father was home because he would help me at times when my mother wasn't watching and sneak some food in the basement for me to eat, just left overs. When he would go to work it was when my mother would do all those tradjec things to me, just me and I would get very scared. At the beginning she wasn't like that at all she was like a normal mother that acted like how a mother should be, but out of nowhere she became this horrible alcholic monster and would just bullie me. She would even want me to stay still in a tub with very cold water, if I moved just a inch she would drown me and I could of died.
Out of nowhere, she started being nice to me and treated me like how she acted with my other brothers, which was surprising. I was happy and suddenly a lady came and asked me questions on how my mom was treating me and if I like my life, and I replyed I was happy because if I didn't say that then my mother would hit me very bad. I knew all this time she was using me because she knew that lady was coming, so after she left she started treating me bad which I wasn't suprised at all. Since she did all those things to me my father got sick and tired of it, so he left her and didn't want nothing of her. I was very mad at him because he left me and now I am in danger of dying because last time my father left for a while with my other brothers, my mother wanted to put me in the oven to cook me and die. So when he left and broke up with her, she replyed "your all mine, your daddy isn't here to save you" and all I wanted to do was die because being alive with that crazy lady was like living in prison or hell. They went to Mcdonalds and left me in the car and I wasn't suprised that they didn't buy me anything.
I know it wasn't my brothers fault that they can't help me because they know my mother would do something. When I was growing up I started realizing that I wasn't the only kid being abuse by their own parents, their were even worse kids being treated badly. I would never do this to my kids or not even let my wife do anything bad to them because I want them to live the opposite life that I lived with that crazy women. I don't want to know anything of her because how she treated me was very bad and I don't want my kids to ever meet her. I eventually told my story to everyone on how I was living in that house because I wouldn't want to keep this as a secret, then no one would know. Now that I'm free I realize how I was before and it was horrible because I could had died and was not gonna set free one day and get married and have kids. At times I get mad at my father for not doing anything and leaving me, but at times I'm happy for him because he helped me at times and treated me like how my other brothers were treated.

Innocent boy, but in the inside he is very hurt

Test Strategies

Ways To Study:

1) Flash Cards
2) With a partner
3) Reading your notes
4) Asking Questions of what you dont know

A way I will try to succeed in my benchmarks is by studying with my flash cards. Flash cards usually have two sides, in the front its the word and a picture and in the back its the info. for the word. Flash cards are better to remember than reading your notes because the flash cards give you a hint of the word because there is a picture that can represent the word. Most people study flash cards when they have to study a test, memorize a speech, and other important stuff. It also keeps me organize because you only write the important facts you have to know, not just other random stuff. The cards are usually small, so you can put them in your bag or pocket when you are somewhere else, you can study. Flash cards are very useful especially when taking benchmarks or CST.
Another way to study is with a partner. Its helpful when someone is on your side to study something important. They usually ask you questions about what your learning and you'll have to answer it. They can help you study faster because they are testing you, instead of you learning it by yourself. It is also fun when studying with a person because its like a game you are playing and eventually you can get a prize by answering the question correctly. When working alone, you can't really remember that much because you can get confuse with everything your learning. So everytime you are gonna have a test ask a parent, sibling, or a friend.
