Ballad Poem

SLAVERY

Back then slaves were treated like hell
The Abolitionists would be in cells
Slaves would make plans to escape, but would fail

They died by natural death, diseases, and starvation
Once they were bought, they worked on plantation
The slaves would want to go to a free state by transportation

They were named, but couldn't pronounce it
Since they didn't eat they weren't fit
They had many wounds because they were hit

Slavery was in the South
They weren't able to say what was in their mouth
All they wanted to do was stay in their house

They didn't have many rights
They couldn't be able to stand up for a fight
They wished their skin was light
